The PEd 134.1 ( Basis Table Tennis), PEd 134.2 (Advanced Table Tennis) and HMS 211 ( Organization and Management of Sports of the College of Human Kinetics of the University of the Philippines, Diliman in cooperation with the U.P. Varsity Table Tennis Team are organizing the 11th UP Chancellor’s Cup National Invitational Table Tennis Tournament from March 31- April 4, 2009. The tournament has received the endorsement of the UP College of Human Kinetics. TATAP has also pledged its support for this momentous event.
Twenty-four (24) events will be contested with the addition of three special events for “ Liha” (sandpaper) racket players which promises to be the most prestigious and participated event in the country.
The first three days ( March 31 – April 2) will be held at the U.P. CHK gym with Diliman Preparatory School holding it simultaneously on April 2. It will also be the first time that this event will be held at a mall which is the Star Mall in Alabang from April 3 and 4.
Prof.Oscar Yoshihiro S. Santelices, the brainchild of this momentous event in honor of the incumbent Chancellor, Dr. Sergio Cao has acquired the professional services of Marketing Specialist, Robbie Pangilinan to beef up the event. Over P200,000 worth of prizes both in kind and in cash will be given away to the winners.

ALL’S WELL that ends well.
The chief organizer of 4th Flexible Cup International Table Tennis Championship the Table Tennis Association
of North District (TATAND) and three club participants agreed to settle the argument amicably over
the weekend.
Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP) president Col. Cesar Binag served as mediator between
Philippine National Police Table Tennis Club team manager Jose Ortalla Jr. and organizer at the UCC
coffee shop in Greenhills.
After PNP and TATAND officers settled their conflict, TATAP iniated to solve the complaints of Metropolitan
Table Tennis Association (METTA) and Hua Ching Foundation to TATAND regarding the way it officiated
the tournament.
Both parties shook hands and agreed to settle the differences amicably at the Sheraton Century Park
Hotel Sunday morning.
Vice-president Jose Ortalla Jr. of TATAP served as mediator among the group of TATAND officers, led
by president Charlie Lim and tournament director Philip Uy, METTA president Ting Ledesma and vice-president
Jackson Que, and Huaching representative Julius Esposo.
Also present in the meeting were Joey Sy, Jerry Gue, Gorio, Ernesto Salvador, Romulo and Mr. Salvador.
I’m happy that we finally settled the issue, said Ortalla Jr., who requested the three clubs
to promote harmonious relationship among table tennis club members for the development of the sport.

Bacolod, TATAP-PNP win in Flexible Cup opening
DEFENDING champion Bacolod-LOPTTA and TATAP-PNP started their campaign on a high note yesterday by beating their respective rivals in the opening of 4th Flexible Cup International Table Tennis Championship at the Ateneo Blue Eagles gym.
Bacolod-LOPTTA swept University of the East, 3-0, while TATAP-PNP defeated Hundred Islands , 3-0, to move in the next round of the two-day event supported by Watertec, Sureshot Sports Ville, Mortabond, Armak Tape Corp.
Other early winners in the tournament also supported by Flexible Packaging Corporation, Ateneo De Manila University Athletics Department, Peony Commercial and Grand Family Association Inc were TATAND/Flexible, Muntilupa and Letran.
TATAND/Flexible whipped Edward Lee Fry, 3-0, while Muntinlupa beat Amoranto, 3-0, and Letran crsuhed Amoranto B, 3-0, for first win in the event supported by Mr & Mrs Sy Sing Kai Memorial Foundation, Vicente & Juanita Hao Chin Chua Foundation and Two Seasons Boracay.
The opening ceremony of the event, organized by Table Tennis Association of North District (TATAND) headed by President Charlie Lim, was graced by newly-inducted Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Harry Angping.
